Psyllium Powder [Aug. 20th, 2011|12:41 pm]

[feeling: |aggravatedaggravated]

My doctor has me on Psyllium Husk Powder for my IBS. This stuff.. is so gross.. I have to make enough smoothie to fill three pint glasses to stomach 2 tablespoons of the stuff.. Anyone have any tips to make this easier?? I don't want to put the powder in capsules because I would have to take so many capsules in one day to equal what I am supposed to be taking. Yuck..

Sorry to hear this. Have you tried honey, or raw cookies.

almond butter, cocoa, honey, anything else that seems fun i.e. hemp seeds, coconut, nuts, add psyllium husk powder to the mix. Roll into balls.

I mix mine with my porridge. I include other things like LSA, soy lecithin granules, chia seeds and quinoa flakes. Then sweeten it with honey and top with rice milk (or normal milk if you can tolerate dairy) . It sounds gross but honestly, it's pretty good. And it helps my IBS too.

I'm a derp and I've only just noticed this. For strict vegan, use agave nectar or rice malt syrup instead of honey. I alternate between honey and rice malt, depending on finances/availability. :)

Can you blend the smoothie with banana? I feel like that covers up a lot.
